Barefoot Canyon Classic 2016
Thank you Hobie and The Ranch at Laguna Beach for making this event so special!
THE FIRST ANNUAL THREE CLUBS BAREFOOT CANYON CLASSIC
Just when you thought Laguna couldn’t get any cooler…along comes the 3 Clubs Barefoot Canyon Classic Golf Tournament and Dinner, hosted by The Ranch at Laguna Beach and Hobie on Monday May 16.
Mark Christy, co-owner of The Ranch and Hobie, is generously underwriting all event costs, which means 100% of the proceeds will benefit SchoolPower, Laguna Beach’s Education Foundation that supports all four public schools.
Why would Christy do such a thing? He’s already a big-time supporter of SchoolPower, as a major sponsor of the Dodgeball tournament, cover advertiser for the Student Directory, and host of this year’s Business Appreciation party.
“When people look back on their lives and the handful of people that have influenced them the most, almost without fail, they will mention a particular teacher they had at a pivotal crossroads in their developmental journey. This is definitely true for me (thank you John Cunningham and Ron Rodecker!)” said Christy. “As a lifetime resident, I’m a product of Laguna’s Schools and am just so incredibly thankful for the lasting impact that the experiences and the teachers here had on me, and years later, for my son. Then as now, the teaching and administrative staff routinely went WAY beyond the call of duty to spark a quest for knowledge and achievement, while treating each student as an individual worthy of their respect and time. Success in life is the result of hard work, commitment, a bit of serendipity and often reflects the effect of the environment and people around you. In terms of the scholastic experience, here in Laguna, we couldn’t be luckier. The parents are involved. They’re volunteering in the classrooms, showing up for the away games and, thankfully, giving whatever time and financial resources they can to SchoolPower. And there can be no question that the incredible support from SchoolPower makes THE CRITICAL DIFFERENCE in terms of providing the tools necessary to set our schools apart. There is no better investment we can make than in the education of our children and I’m just grateful that we can be a small part of helping SchoolPower lead the charge.”
