Fund-A-Need 2012
For many of us science class brings back memories of tedious textbooks and sleepy lectures. This is why, when asked to list their most important need this year, LBUSD leaders requested upgrades and additions to the lab equipment that is vital to the science program at LBHS. Already one of the top science programs in the country, our school leaders want to take science out of the textbook and bring it to life for every student who sits in a science class – and that means every single student at LBHS.

This year's Fund-A-Need is appropriately named "Into the Lab." When students can see what they are learning through hands-on learning, it is relevant and inspiring. A 2012 study shows that the top 10 college degrees by salary are all science related. Another international study shows US students are falling behind their peers.

There is a great demand for science majors that the US is not meeting. By getting students out of their textbooks and "Into the Lab," we can help them embrace science – whether for just their high school years or their life's work.

We invite you to come "Into the Lab" with LBUSD's 2012 Fund-a-Need video and see for yourself why support of our high school science program is more important than ever. With your contribution now, or at the Dinner Dance on March 3rd, we can reach our $68,100 goal. We are asking everyone in our community to give generously to begin building a groundswell of support for this important initiative. Let's do everything we can to ensure that our students continue to receive a truly world-class science education.

Thank you for your support of Laguna Beach schools!
